Abraham D. Nacnac, Jr. was born on November 17th, 1943 as the youngest of 10 children to Abraham, Sr and Flavania Nacnac in a barrio outside the town of Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. His childhood was immersed in the nature of his homeland; learning to fish & swim in the nearby rivers, enjoying rooster fights and learning to trap a variety of animals such as fowls, tukak(frogs), banias(lizards), abal-abal(beetles) and bisicol(snails). While attending high school in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, he developed a passion for photography which he pursued part-time. Years later while vacationing in the town of Baguio, he spotted through the camera lens the love of his life, Epifania, who he would eventually marry.

To become the provider for his future wife, he sought to enlist in the US Navy (PEP) in 1966 during the Vietnam War, but the Navy sent him to the United States Coast Guard instead. Starting as an excellent cook, he eventually achieved the rank of MK2 as a mechanical technician, working in the engine rooms on various boats & ships serving from Alaska to Antarctica. He was an excellent marksman, earning medals in sharpshooting and was an accomplished swimmer participating in search & rescue operations, as well as intercepting illegal shipments during the war on drugs. During his time to earn extra money, he'd cut the hair of his shipmates proving to be an excellent barber as well.

Married on July 20th, 1968, in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, the hometown of his wife, she joined him a few years later to begin their new life in America. Beginning their family in San Diego with a daughter then later in Long Beach with their son, they continued to live throughout towns around the California Coast as far north as Humboldt County. Nearing the end of his military service, Abe and Epi would finally settle in Pittsburg, California, and continued to build their second home in Vintar where they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2018.

After honorably serving the US Coast Guard for 20 years, Abe retired on June 1, 1986, and began to work as a machinist for Micropump in Concord, then later for Esco Corp in Benicia where his USCG skills would continue. It would also contribute to his time spent tinkering with tools creating mechanical, medical and fishing equipment, repairing his cars and building things for around his home. Abe and Epi also loved spending time with the family traveling to various piers, rivers, and lakes for fishing, crabbing & even clamming in Rio Vista. He also loved to play guitar, dance cha-cha, sing, draw and create crafts like kites and parole making - a Filipino decorative star used during Christmas.

After reaching the milestone of his 80th birthday, Abraham left us on the evening of Dec 3rd and will be embraced by his loving wife and the rest of his siblings gone before him. His memory and accomplishments will forever be shared by his daughter Willette (and Derek), his son Wendell, granddaughter Arlana and many other relatives of the Nacnac bloodline.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm with a rosary at 4:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy  Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10:00am at Our Lady Queen of the World Church, Bay Point. Burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
