Obituary

Alvin Joseph DeConge Jr. was born on June 16, 1964 to his parents Alvin Joseph DeConge Sr. and Delrine Singleton DeConge. Alvin grew up in Berkeley, California which influenced his vibrant outlook on life and his relationships with people.

Alvin was graduate of the class of 1982 Robert E. Lee High school in Baytown, Texas. He was an amazing athlete who had dreams of playing professional basketball. He played football and excelled in track & field and was also an excellent swimmer where he completed his certification in lifeguard. Alvin also was achieved Eagle Scout in the Boys Scouts of America.

After high school, he joined the US Army. He then attended the Art Institute of Houston where he pursued his passion for art. Later his interest and career developed in the area of industrial safety and management. Alvin had a "jack of all trades" expertise and attained multiple certifications in OSHA/Safety regulations in Industrial Services management where he established his career in the oil and gas industry and construction management. He was a natural entrepreneur whose expertise was sought after by industrial start-up companies.

Alvin's predestined career in safety began at the age of 10 when he awakened his family and saved them from a tragic house fire. He was recognized for his heroism by the Berkeley Fire Department for saving the lives of his family. Later in life, he continued to dedicate his life to safety and saving lives on the frontline. He saved several lives on the ground in 3 major Texas oil refinery explosions. He also received commendation and honors for assisting the BP Oil spill in Louisiana. Recently, he worked in helping to manage forestry in the Paradise, California fires.

Close to Alvin's heart were his daughters (Brittany & Maya), his passion for the outdoors-especially fishing and his relationship with family and friends. He will be affectionately remembered for his adventurous and generous spirit who loved to include others in his adventures and gave of himself unselfishly to family and friends.

Alvin departed this life end entered the Kingdom of God on March 1, 2021. Alvin is survived by his parents Alvin Joseph DeConge Sr. and Delrine Singleton DeConge. His sisters Michelle DeConge-Vallejos married to Jesse Vallejos and Delrine Costenbader married to Matthew Costenbader, his brother Maurice DeConge, and his two daughters  Brittany Reyland married to Josh Reyland and Maya DeConge.
