Anita Jean Stamps was born on January 3, 1949, to Frank J. Ferguson of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Ella Mae Jackson of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Although she was born in San Francisco, California, Anita spent her childhood and adult years rooted between Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Wichita, Kansas—places that shaped her strength, faith, and love for family.

She attended Holy Savior Elementary School, and St. Mary's Cathedral School in Wichita, Kansas. Anita began her college journey in the nursing program at Bryman College. After a change in calling, she later earned her Associate's degree in Child Development and proudly served as a special needs teacher's assistant, where her patience, compassion, and nurturing spirit shined.

Anita found Christ at an early age and was baptized while under the loving care of her grandmother, Enda Mae McElwee. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her life. She later found a cherished church home at Center of Hope Church under the leadership of Bishop Brondon Reems. Anita was an active and devoted member of the Mothers Board and carried out her responsibilities with dedication, reverence, and love for God's work.

Known as the life of the party, Anita brought joy wherever she went. Her laughter was contagious, her presence uplifting, and her spirit unforgettable. She had a deep love for fashion and music and was known for designing and sewing her own garments during her high school years—a true expression of her creativity and style.

Most of all, Anita loved her family. She was a trusted support system for the younger generation, always ready to listen, offer guidance, pray, and provide comfort during times of need. She was affectionately known as "Big Momma," a title she wore with pride and honor.

Anita leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Denita Ferguson and Cori Ferguson; her son-in-law, Frederick Reed; and her beloved grandson, François Batù Reed. She is also survived by her niece, Tristan Jones; nephews Darian Jones, Shawn Jones, Michel Jones, and Brian Jones; stepdaughter Lynnette Harness; step-grandchildren Patrick Harness, Paris Jr. Ragland, Pierre Ragland, and Anthonio Francois Ragland, who preceded her in death. In addition, she leaves a host of godchildren, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly and will forever carry her legacy of love, faith, and family.

Anita Jean Stamps lived a full and beautiful life, and her memory will remain forever in our hearts.
