Obituary

Anna Maria Zamarripa was born on March 8, 1934, in Sinaloa, Mexico, and peacefully went home to be with our heavenly Father on February 22, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her dearly. Anna is survived by her husband of 68 years, Henry Verdugo; her children, son Michael Verdugo, daughters Patricia Gonion and Priscilla Verdugo; her sisters, Grace Gonzalez and Martha Arce; her grandchildren, Sam Verdugo, Jake Verdugo, Jordan Delgado, James Delgado, and Jazmine Delgado, and her-great-granddaughter Margaret Jiayu Verdugo as well as many nieces and nephews and her constant companion who never left her side, her cat, Gordo.

In 1957, Anna met and married Henry Verdugo. They spent the next 68 years together, raising a family and then enjoying the simple quietness of their golden years. Anna was proud that, after completing only 6th grade in Mexico, she was able to attend school in California and earn her CNA certification. This certification allowed her to work with AIDS patients, offering them compassion and comfort during their final days.

As an avid gardener, Anna took pride in her garden and the beautiful flowers she lovingly cared for, which bloomed brilliantly under her touch.

Anna enjoyed painting portraits and landscapes, showcasing her artistic talent. She was also an excellent seamstress, making clothes for herself and her daughters. Due to poor health, Anna spent the last few months of her life in a care facility where she won the hearts of the nurses and staff with her gentle and kind spirit. Her faith was strong and never wavered.

Anna was generous and selfless, always opening her heart to others. Those who had the privilege of meeting her will always remember her giving spirit, smile, and laughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to:
