Anne ('Tonia' to her beloved Emilio) died peacefully April 5, after a visit with close family. Born Jan. 5, 1924 in Holtville, CA, Anne was the sixth of 12 children of migrant farmworkers who settled in Brentwood. She made Contra Costa County her home and met Emilio at the Western CA Canners. They married in 1950, lived 58 wonderful years together and enjoyed road trips and sightseeing. They raised children Barbara, Christina, Rosalinda, Steven Sr. and grandson Steven Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband and son; survived by siblings Frank Padilla, Lillian Castillo, Teddy Padilla and Corrine Lefler; daughters Barbara Heredia, Christina Grzechowiak, and Rosalinda Johnson. Mother-in-Law of Richard (deceased), Jerry and Garrett; Grandmother of Christopher, Theresa, Jeffrey, David, Steven Jr.and Alison; great grandmother of Maddie and Jack; grand-mother-in-law of Elmer, Gilda and Angie. A cherished grandmother, wife, mother, sister and friend.
Anne lived by the belief that we should love all of God's children equally. Her gift for nurturing showed in the raising of her beautiful family, her manicured garden, the way she cared for animals, and in her friendships at Windsor Manor where she loved coloring and arts and crafts. Family brought her the most joy in life. We will remember her for her sweet smile, her patient way, her love of singing and her incredible dignity.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10:30am with a chapel blessing at 11:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.
