Arturo Diaz, born the third child of the late Mariano Diaz and Jovita De Guzman on December 15, 1928, in Manila, Philippines. He found love and was united in the holy matrimony to Emma Rey on the 14th of December 1957. This union was blessed with a daughter and four sons.
Arturo, at a young age, served in the United States Army during World War II and was deployed in Okinawa, Japan. After his military duties, he went to college and graduated with a degree in Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Manuel L. Quezon University in Manila, Philippines. He worked as an educator in Guzman Institute of Technology.
Arturo is a quiet, strong, and humble individual. He lived a simple life with no interest in anything material. His family and their happiness were the most meaningful concern for him. He spent most of his life looking after his family, making sure that they are all fine. For him there are no riches and treasures greater than his own family.
Arturo quietly passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at 11:14 in the evening in his home in Pittsburg, CA.
He is survived by his daughter, Ma. Socorro Diaz-Sumbillo and husband Nestor Sumbillo; four sons, Joselito Diaz and wife Grace Diaz, Manolito Diaz and wife Jhonalyn De Castro-Diaz, Arturo Diaz Jr., and Gentry Diaz and his wife Irene Pahunang-Diaz; seven grandchildren, Patrick Moses and wife Maureen Joie Castillo, Marc Angelo, Scott Ian, Duane Ryan, Craig, Gwyneth Iris, Gillian Iliana and Jolene Nicole; and a great grandson, Zion Isaac.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. A Funeral liturgy will follow at the Church of Good Shepherd at 12:00pm. Committal Services following at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
