Obituary

Aurora G. Cardona age 86, a life long resident of Antioch, Ca., passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Kaiser Permanente Antioch Medical Center in Antioch.  She is preceded in death by her parents Ignacio and Maria Gutierrez, son Richard Cardona, brother Gustavo (Gus) Cervantes, and sister Evelyn (Evie) Lamport.
Aurora is survived by Her brother Henry Cervantes from Marina Del Rey, Ca., Her sister Jennie Gonzales from Pittsburg, Ca. Ruben Gutierrez from Arizona, and Steve Gutierrez from Arizona.
Her sons Carlos, Daniel, Ignacio, and Daughter Laura Cardona.  Also many Nieces, Nephews, Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and Great-Great-grandchildren.
Aurora was born in Fresno, Ca., raised in Oakley/Antioch, East Contra Costa County.  She went to Liberty High School and concluded her education years later at Antioch Adult Education receiving her diploma while raising 5 children, and maintaining a full-time job.  This is typical of her tenacity and perseverance. She was employed by Glass Containers/Anchor Glass in Antioch for 35 years before her retirement. With a significant achievement of being the first female foreman in the Company's history.
Aurora was avid sport enthusiast, supporting her favorite teams the San Francisco 49ers, and The San Francisco Giants. She enjoyed playing women's fast pitch softball, and coaching the Anchor Glass mens softball team. She enjoyed the outdoors, going camping with her kids. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Volunteered by assisting and helping out at the local food pantry. She enjoyed her monthly retirement dinners with her fellow retirees from Anchor Glass. She also enjoyed water aerobics and an active social life until her passing.
Celebration of life and Viewing will be held on Friday October 27th, 2017 starting at 10:00 am with the services following at 11:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Interment at Memory Gardens in Concord following the services.
