Betty Jean Rocco Cardinale passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 in Folsom, California where she had spent her final 3 ½ years to be closer to her youngest grandchildren. Betty was fortunate to live an active, healthy lifestyle up until the last few months of her life.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents Natale and Filomena Rocco as well as her brother Frank Rocco, Sister in law Louise Rocco, Brother Vince (Jim) Rocco, Sister in Law Fern Rocco, sister Rose Riso, Brother in law James Riso, Sister in Law Lorri Rocco, Father and Mother in Law Rocco and Josephine Cardinale, Sister in Law and Brother in Law Grace and Sal Aiello, Brothers in Law Salvatore and Frank Cardinale and never to forget her husband of 57 years, Bennie Cardinale. She is survived by sister in law Pam (Narez) Cardinale and her younger, loving, brother Natale Rocco.

Betty was not only a loyal, dedicated wife but also a loyal, dedicated mother to her four children, Josephine Olney (Russ), Rocco Cardinale (Judy), Mark Cardinale (Joan) and Philomena Crone (Bert). She was a loving Nonna to her six grandchildren, Alexandra Olney, Dominic Cardinale, Gianni Cardinale, Carlo Cardinale, Annamaria Crone and Ava Crone.

Betty was born on February 15, 1932 in Blende, Colorado and then moved to Fresno, California as a child where she graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School in 1950. Betty moved to Pittsburg in her early 20's, married her husband, Bennie, raised her children, worked, retired, volunteered and socialized during over 60 years of being a resident of Pittsburg.

Betty worked for the Pittsburg Unified School District for 25 years, retiring from her position as Parent Volunteer Coordinator at Parkside Elementary School in 1997.While she was working with the school district she also taught catechism for 25 years at the Church of the Good Shepherd. She enjoyed an active retirement attending weekly craft class, daily mass, socializing at coffee and over breakfast as well as weekly visits to Shear Madness to get her hair done. Betty, along with her husband Bennie, had beautiful trips back to Italy to visit Sicily and Calabria where their families originated.

Betty was always ready and available to help out with her six grandchildren when they were born and while they were growing up. She was always eager to host her family and grandchildren at her house and made homemade pasta sauce every week for most of her life as a wife, mom and Nonna.

Betty was also a die-hard Golden State Warriors fan and enthusiastically rooted on the team and especially her favorite player Steph Curry.

Betty will not only be missed by her children and grandchildren but also her many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends who she all loved dearly.

Friends and family are invited to a funeral mass on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 12:00pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd 3200 Harbor St., Pittsburg, CA 94565. Committal services  following at Holy Cross Cemetery 2200 East 18th Street, Antioch, CA 94509.
