Betty Ann Carpenello Laxner passed away at the age of 79 on October 8th, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsburg, CA and a long- time member of St. Peter Martyr Church. She worked for the Pittsburg Unified School District for 37 years. She volunteered in the Gift Shop at Kaiser Hospital after retirement. She loved her family and friends, her church, and her community. She was a member of the YLI, the ICF, the Catholic Daughters, and served on the Santa Rosalia committee. She regularly volunteered at the annual Seafood Festival in Pittsburg. She loved celebrating all holidays and always made them festive. She enjoyed cooking and baking which her family loved eating. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Anita Carpenello and Brother Gerald. She leaves behind her brother Donald Carpenello (Mary Jane); Daughter Laura Ward (Daniel); Sons Michael, Stephen, and Robert Jr; her three Grandchildren Paul Ward, Mark Laxner (Amber), and Alicia Ward; Great Grandson Angelo Laxner and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 6:30pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Friday, October 16, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Peter Martyr Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to causes supporting Alzheimer's research.
