Betty Joyce Mullins entered eternal rest on September 28, 2023. She was born on March 29, 1936, in Houston, Texas, the first of 5 children, to the late Herbert and Savannah Jones.

Betty whom most would call Mommy, BJ, or Momma Mullins, was also affectionately known as GaGa. She had a loving spirit, a warm smile and remained a generous soul throughout her lifetime. Home was where she loved to spend time surrounded by her grandchildren. She enjoyed working on puzzles, playing cards, growing, and maintaining beautiful green plants, watching Western movies, and sewing, which was a skill she knew very well. She sewed throughout her 87 years, making clothes for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

Betty received her elementary and secondary education in Houston, Texas. She attended Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she met the love of her life. Betty graduated from Dillard University in 1956 where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the formally known area of Pill Hill, in Oakland, California and later settled in with Kaiser Permanente, where she was promoted to Nursing Supervisor. After retiring from Kaiser Permanente, with over twenty years of service, her training and expertise in acute care made it easy for her to take another nursing position with Lone Tree Convalescent Hospital in Antioch, California, where she shared her knowledge and love of educating, providing, and coordinating patient care for those recovering from sickness or debility.

Betty was bound in holy matrimony to Richard Mullins, Jr. on December 29th, 1958, in Houston, Texas. Out of this marriage came 8 children.Betty is survived by sons Richard Mullins, III (Tuquilla) of San Bernardino, Ca, David Mullins (Fleur) of Antioch, Ca, Sheldon Mullins (Deanna) of San Jose, Ca, Brian Mullins of San Francisco, Ca, Peter Mullins (Leilani) of San Jose, Ca and daughters Kileah Loving of Antioch, Ca and Alexandria Mullins-Quartermaine (Stedman) of Antioch, Ca, 5 grandsons, 15 granddaughters, 3 great grandsons, 5 great granddaughters, brother Herbert Jones, Jr. (Maude Alice, deceased) of Alexandria, Louisiana, Theresa Tyson (Richard) of Maricopa, Arizona, Diane Villalongo of Houston, Texas, Veronica Craig of Columbia, South Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Betty is preceded to eternity by her husband Richard Mullins Jr, son Thomas Mullins, father Herbert Jones, Sr, mother Savannah Jones, grandson Peter Mullins, Jr, granddaughter Breiana Mullins, and son-in-law Stedman Quartermaine.
Mother, sister, grandmother and friend, her generous loving heart will forever be missed by all who knew her.

Memorial funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 10:30am at St. Ignatius of Antioch.
