Betty was born to Joe Calvin Smith and Alma Ary Smith. Betty was in hospice care since March, 2022 and died at home, Monday, August 8 at 1:05am. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Tipton. They had 5 children, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchildren. .

She was born in a small town in Middle Tennessee, moved to Chicago after graduating high school where she met and married Jack in 1953 in a double ceremony.

She is remembered as a hardworking, loving, tenderhearted Mom and Grandma. Betty touched many lives and those that knew her loved her wit and her sweet southern demeanor. Betty is survived by her children: David Joe Tipton, Phillip Leon Tipton, Timothy W. Tipton, Jack Andrew Tipton and Jo Ann Tipton. Grandchildren:

David Joe Tipton, II, Adam Brent Tipton, William West, Johnathan Tipton, Morgan Tipton Bryant, Paul "PJ" Woods and Cody Woods. Great Grand Children: Carlyn, Makaelyn, Macon, Maycee, Kaci, Alayna, Tripp, Waylon, Kennedy, Wyatt, Weldon, Winston, Trevor, Rachel and Landon. Great great grandchild Greyson. Most recent pets: Casper her lap dog and Buster.

Only a gravesite service will be held Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2:00pm at Walnut Grove Cemetery on Hwy 104 outside of Trenton, TN. Brother Kevin Clayton will be officiating.
