Obituary

Carlos Peter Bustillos (Charlie) was born in 1943 in El Paso, Texas—the first-born son of Reyes and Lupe Bustillos. He spent his early childhood years in Texas, Los Angeles, and the family eventually settled in Pittsburg in the early 1950's. Carlos joined the National Guard in his teen years, and later began his career as a machinist in Southern California - where he resided for over 20 years before returning to Pittsburg.

Carlos respected and modeled his father's work ethic, and retired as a Prototype Master Machinist—working in multiple industries (i.e. aerospace, engineering). In his leisure time throughout the years, a fishing trip to Lake Orville was one of his favorite past-times - complete with breakfast and chatting with the local fishermen. During the warm weather season, Carlos and his brother Frank spent many afternoons wandering among the classics at local car shows. He could look at a picture of an old car, and off the top of his head was able to tell you the model, make and year of just about any automobile. The Oakland Raiders and the Golden State Warriors had a long-standing loyal fan in Carlos, and he spent many sleepless nights cheering on FC Barcelona.

While his career and favorite past-times described what he did, it was his love of family and his Catholic faith that sum up who he was—and is—as he enters eternal life. The seeds of faith planted by his parents nourished him through both the challenging and fruitful times of his life.

Carlos is survived by his children Charlotte, Diana, and Reyes, his sisters Maria Bustillos, Theresa B. Arzate, Anna B. Trevino, Frances B. Pita, and his brother Ruben Bustillos. He is preceded in death by his parents Reyes and Lupe (Marin) Bustillos, and his brother Frank Paul Bustillos.
