Carlos passed through this life to be with the Lord on January 9th. 2023, at home surrounded by his family and friends. Carlos would have turned 102 years young on March 31st. 2023. He was born Crisoforo Tellez Valenzuela on March 31, 1921 in Tlalpujahua Michoacan, to Domitila Valenzuela and Crisoforo Tellez. He was the oldest of 11 siblings, and was raised in Mexico City. He met his wife Fernanda Sanchez on May 1, 1943. They were married in Mexico City on February 2, 1947 and were together for 68 years until her passing in 2015. In 1954, they brought their family to settle in Pittsburg California. Carlos worked for the Railroad Co. and later as a Teamster's Union truck driver for the Pittsburg Disposal Service. He also worked as a custodian under Father Dabovich at The Good Shepherd Church for many years.
Carlos had a passion for music and a zest for life. He was a great conversationalist and easily made friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, fiestas, playing cards and Bingo on a weekly basis. Carlos was very patriotic and loved both his countries of Mexico and the United States. He especially loved reading about their history and loved to share his knowledge surrounding each country's history.
Carlos is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife and eldest son Carlos F. Tellez. We will miss his humor, sharp wit and gregarious personality.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11:00am and a funeral liturgy will begin at 12:00pm all at St. Ignatius of Antioch 3351 Contra Loma Blvd., Antioch, CA 94509. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery 2200 E. 18th street, Antioch, Ca 94509.
