Carmen Goroza Carino passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016. A long-time resident of Pittsburg CA she lived with her eldest daughter, Lita Carino Ubarro, and her husband Jess Ubarro, in Fremont since 2002. Carmen was born in Urdaneta, Pangasinan in the Philippines. She and her four children came to the US to join her husband, Fredie Carino Sr. in 1954. Carmen charmed all whom she met and was known as "Auntie Cacang" by those younger than she and "Cacang" (older sister) by her friends.
The wife of a soldier, she lived in Georgia, Alabama and Maryland, before settling in Pittsburg. An amazing woman with less than a 6th grade education, she mastered the English language, written and spoken. Carmen loved to sing and dance, and upon Fredie's retirement, they took ballroom dancing lessons and often went dancing with friends in different cities. Part of the Fil-American senior dance troupe, she and Fredie performed with the troupe at association special functions.
Carmen is survived by four children: Lita Ubarro of Fremont CA; Virginia Gomez of Whittier CA; Roger Carino of Arcadia CA and Fredie Carino, Jr. of Paramount CA; seven grandchildren: Alex Gomez; James Ubarro; Jolyn Gomez Cebedo; Marlene Gomez Nantell; Marcus Carino; Brianna and Brandon Carino; and seven great grandchildren: Alexis and Adam Gomez; Jade, Jocelyn and Jordyn Cebedo; Caelum Nantell and Aryana Carino.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 6:30pm at the P:ittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Oak View Memorial Park, 2500 E. 18th St., Antioch CA.
