Carmen Soto, a long-time resident of Pittsburg, passed away Tuesday evening 2.09.2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer's complicated by covid-19. Carmen lived in Pittsburg for the past 80 years after arriving in Pittsburg with her parents from Mexico at the young age of 13, she was 93 years old at her passing. After High School she returned to Mexico for a year where she met her husband Antonio. They were married in Mexico on July 1 st , 1950 and returned to Pittsburg thereafter where together they worked and built a family together for over 50 years. Carmen was preceded in death by her mother, Teresa Casillas Jaime and her husband, Antonio.
She leaves behind her two sons Antonio Soto Jr DC (Yvonne) and Gerald Soto (Joan), 6 grandchildren: Mary Ainsworth (Jayson), Michelle, Anthony, Christina, Joseph and Mark, and two great grandchildren Jackson and Ava Ainsworth and many nieces and nephews.
Carmen was a member of the Sociadad de La Guadalupana and The Catholic Daughters for many years.
Funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 12:00pm at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery where she will once again be together with her husband, Antonio. Due to Covid-19 concerns there will be no reception following the internment. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made in Carmen's name to St. Peter Martyr School.
