Cookie passed away peacefully at her home in Pittsburg at age 77 with family at her side. She was born in Pittsburg to Italian parents, Albert and Mary Bogni and was the oldest of two children. She graduated from Pittsburg High in 1961.

After high school she graduated from cosmetology school and became a beautician. Eventually she changed careers and went to work for Bank of America where she held many positions for over 30 years.

Cookie married the love of her life, Raph Shaver, in 1962 and they had  two children, Cherryl and Robert "Robbie" Shaver. She and Ralph raised the kids in Pittsburg and she was very active in Little League coaching and serving on the board of directors.

Traditions were incredibly important to her and she loved cooking at the holidays, especially making her homemade raviolis and pumpkin pies. She enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii, cruising, and watching the 49ers. She and her husband loved their classic cars and hanging out at car shows with so many wonderful friends. Her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy and she spent lots of time with them.

Sadly, she battled dementia and Alzheimer's the last few years but kept her strong spirit throughout her illness. Her kind and caring character still shined through as the diseases progressed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and son Robert Shaver and is survived by her daughter Cherryl Crawley, son in law Nick Crawley, brother Robert Bogni, and two grandchildren, Jeremy Shaver and Nichole Crawley.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation Monday, November 15 at 10:30am at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel, service at noon and committal service following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
