Obituary

Carolyn passed away on Saturday June 2, 2018 from complications resulting from kidney and lung failure.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends from Virginia to California.

Carolyn was born in Norfolk, VA in 1942.  She graduated from Washington High School where she met her eventual husband Lawrence Douglas Gray.  Mr. and Mrs. Gray relocated to San Francisco in 1961, where they established their life and family.

Our Mother was an active and proud member of the Eastern Star.  She loved fishing, cooking, playing cards, arts and crafts and spending quality time with her family.  Her latest and most passionate calling was contributing to the local community by making Christmas special for the youth, the homeless and families in need.  Through contributions from the community, she created surprise gift boxes, requested gifts, need gifts and other essential life packages.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Viola and George Eccles.

Carolyn is survived by her children Toi Gray and her husband Ray of Elk Grove; Gary Gray and his wife Lori of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Joseph Burt, Tiana Gray, Tre Burt, Taylor Gray, Lawrence Gray and Bree Howell.  She is also survived by her brother Woodley Timberlake of Fort Washington, MD.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:15am at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel, 2295 Railroad Ave, Pittsburg, CA 94565.
