Obituary

Catherine Marie Quesada born February 13, 1938, passed away peacefully with family at her home in Oakley, CA on January 10, 2025, at the age of86.

Catherine was born in Pueblo, Colorado on February 13, 1938. In 1947 her family moved to Chandler AZ, Santa Ana and Brentwood, CA then in 1948 her family settled in Bella Vista (Bay Point) CA on Solano Avenue.

Catherine went to Pittsburg High School but graduated from the Pittsburg Adult Education School in 1963. Catherine worked in Antioch, CA for the Tilly Lewis Foods for over 20 years.  In 1980 she worked for the Los Medanos Hospital as a cook for many years and went to night school to further her career, then promoted to unit secretary of the ICU. When LMC hospital closed in 1994 she went onto work for the Antioch imaging center until retirement. After retirement, she spent her time as a servant for Christ at the Golden Hills Community Church and devoted her time as a grandmother.

Catherine was a wonderful mother and grandmother who always there when we needed her the most. Offering support, wisdom and love in abundance.  She was a cherished member of her church community leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. A comfort to many and a joy to all, most of her time was spent taking care of her family and doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to cook, dance, shop, worship, camp, travel, casinos, and Football.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Ruben Quesada, son Ruben Quesada Jr., daughters Regina Quesada Silva and Loretta Quesada.  Nine grandchildren Sephra Arias, Christopher Quesada, Maria Quesada, Meagan Murillo, Angelina Guevara, Danielle Karleskind, Beto Guevara and Lauren Guevara and 17 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death her parents Pomposo Tafoya and Francisca Tafoya, brothers and sisters Antonio Tafoya, Jose Tafoya, Evaristo Tafoya, Connie Perez, Cora Herrera, John Tafoya, Arthur Tafoya, Marie Sandoval, Gloria Martinez, Pauline Rubio and Catherine's first-born grandson Joshua David Velasquez.

Visitation will be held on February 3, 2025, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a celebration of life at 6:30pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral service Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 10:30 2025, at Golden Hills Community Church. Burial following at Oak View Memorial in Antioch. Reception and gathering at the Fil-Am Hall, Pittsburg, CA.
