Celia "Sally" Rose Esquibell passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025 surrounded by her family and friends. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose gracious spirit, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family left a lasting mark on all who knew her.

Sally was born in Pittsburg, California, to Francisco Luna and Jesusita Cortez. She was one of five sisters and is survived by her sister Margie Murgia, and preceded in death by her sisters Hope Barberio, Mary Sanchez, and Nancy Fieros. She graduated from Mt. Diablo High School and went on to create a loving home alongside her beloved husband, Augustine Esquibell, who preceded her in death.

A dedicated homemaker and nurturing mother, Sally raised six children who were the joy of her life. She is survived by her children: Richard Esquibell Sr., Irene Vigil, Daniel Esquibell Sr., and John Esquibell Sr., all of Pittsburg; Pauline Renner of Atlanta, Georgia; and Elaine Plath of Tyler, Texas. She was also blessed with 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Sally had a boundless love for her family and was a devoted child of God. Known for her kindness, strength, and open heart, she was a mother figure to many beyond her own children. Her generosity and warmth touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation and Viewing on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am, followed by a memorial service at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Burial to follow at Oak View Memorial Park. A luncheon reception will follow at the Filipino American Hall, 345 Central Ave. Pittsburg.
