Obituary

Charles was born in Brinkman, Oklahoma to Louise and Godfry Culbreath on October 7, 1927. At 17 he enlisted in the Army Aircore and was stationed at Subic Bay, Philippines for 2 years. After returning home he married Mary Beth Guthrie in Oklahoma. The couple traveled to California looking for work at Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg. Later he found work at Avon Oil Refinery in Martinez and retired after 35 years as a company Foreman. In retirement, Charles volunteered at the Ambrose Community center's senior food program. He was an example to all who knew him. Charles was a dedicated father, grandfather, husband, and friend.

Charles is survived by his only child, Gwen Wolfe and son-in-law John Wolfe, granddaughter Suzanne Maher, grandson Brian Wolfe and wife Gizella, 4 great grandchildren: Vincent and Jack Maher, Ilona and Mia Wolfe. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Beth, parents Godfry and Louise Culbreath, 3 brothers: Leon, Jack and Ralph and sister Katherine.


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 9:30am with a funeral service at 10:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Military burial following at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
