Consuelo Segovia, 86 years old, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Kaiser Antioch Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Consuelo was born on January 25, 1936, in Cucamonga, California to Salud Mesa and Jesusita Alcala. She was the second of three girls, her oldest sister, Elena Ruiz, and youngest sister, Anita Ayala. At the age of 5 she moved with her mother and sister to Pittsburg, California.
Consuelo married Jess J Segovia on July 20, 1958. They were married for 63 years.
They were blessed with three children, Lisa, Leticia, and Joseph.
She is survived by her husband, Jess J Segovia, her daughters, Lisa Segovia and Leticia Rodrigues, son-in-law Joey Rodrigues, her son, Joseph Segovia, Michael Salinas, and Yinsakiya Stanton.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Deborah Ruiz, George Lerek, Alexander Lericos, Antionette and Enrique Ruiz, Jaime Ruiz, Monica Ayala-Flores and Jose Flores, Gabrielle Flores, Stephanie Flores, Angelica Ayala, Jessica Perez, Victor Perez, Dominic Guerrier, and Julian Perez, Javier and Karen Ayala, DeVon Ayala, Adriana Ayala, and Alyssa Vigil. Her cousins Bob and Pat Jaramillo, Carlos and Laura Jaramillo, and Vince and Monica Jaramillo.
She is predeceased by her mother Jesusita Mesa, her father, Salud Mesa, her sister Elena Ruiz, brother-in-law, Antonio Ruiz, sister Anita Ayala, brother-in-law Javier Ayala, her aunt Dolores Jaramillo, and uncle Jesus Jaramillo. Her in-laws, Jess and Evelyn Segovia, brothers-in-law John Segovia, and Fernando Romero and niece Felicia.
Consuelo graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1954.
She held various jobs including the Riverview Lodge, the grape orchards in Brentwood and Oakley, Douglas Aircraft, McCannas shop, Pittsburg Elk's Lodge, Anthony's Jewelers, Woulf & Ury Jewelers, Concord Pavilion, Prima Donna Cake Box, and Los Medanos College bookstore.
She helped to establish the Jesusita Mesa Scholarship Fund at Los Medanos College, in honor of her mother
Mom was a very crafty person. She enjoyed textile painting. She loved to make ceramic Christmas trees for her family and friends. She liked to crochet and made blankets and dish towels for her family. She was a good seamstress and loved selling Avon.
She belonged to various community organizations such as Las Madres de Pittsburg, the Guadalupana, the Latin American Women's League, the Catholic Daughters of America at Church of the Good Shepherd, the Columbiettes of Our Lady, Queen of the World in Bay Point and the Pittsburg Fifty Plus Club.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00pm with a rosary 4:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10:30am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch, CA.
Consuelo's favorite color was purple. Please honor her memory by wearing any shade of purple, leopard print or your favorite hat.
