Obituary

Daniel J. Gonzalez Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday after a brave and valiant battle with Congestive Heart Failure. He touched many lives with his calm, honest and gentle manner.
Daniel was born and raised in Pittsburg, Ca. and graduated from Pittsburg High school in 1953. He was employed at Crown Zellerbach and Gaylord Container for 35 yrs. Daniel was a man of many talents, he was a musician, playing in The Pittsburg Municipal Band and later in the Air-Force Reserve Band, playing the clarinet. Daniel was very social and had the ability to converse with everyone about an array of topics, he also enjoyed playing and attending a variety of sporting events including; basketball and horse racing. He played semi-pro football for the Contra Costa Riders and later became a true lover of golf. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and friends but especially with his wife Pauline.
Daniel was preceded in death by his loving and lovely wife Pauline (Herrera) Gonzalez of almost 50 yrs. He is survived by his devoted children Daniel and Steven, daughter in-laws Rebecca and Yenny, four loving grandchildren Megan, Matthew, Gavin and Candace. He is also survived by his sister Teresa Navarro and brother Carlos Gonzalez, as well as 20 nieces and nephews and many cousins.
His generous, kind, honest and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 6:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
