Danny Lewis passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 80, after a brief illness. He was born on Washington's Birthday, February 22, 1945, and was a lifelong resident of Pittsburg. He attended Village Elementary, where in 1957 he was elected as the very first student body president, Central Junior High and was a 1963 graduate of Pittsburg Senior High.

The Lewis family sport of choice was bowling, and Danny excelled at a young age and began to compete against adults at age 15. In March 1961, just past his 16th birthday, he captured the coveted All Events title in the county-wide Diablo Bowling Association annual tournament, becoming the youngest bowler to win the event. Then in 1970 he duplicated the feat, becoming the only DBA bowler to win the crown twice. He was elected to the Diablo Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1991.

After a brief stint working for Safeway in Pittsburg, he was hired in 1966 to become the manager of Vogue Lanes. At age 21 he began to hone his skills as a bartender under the tutelage of owner Tom Williamson. In January 1968 he was able to convert the Lewis family sport of bowling into the family business when he purchased the 8-lane bowling alley. Along with his brothers and other family members they operated Vogue Lanes for the next 20 years, where it became the favorite recreation spot in Pittsburg. In 1987, the Lewis family was able to achieve their long-time dream of opening a new modern bowling center in Pittsburg. They operated the Los Medanos Lanes for ten years before selling the business. After leaving the bowling business, Danny worked briefly as a limousine driver before becoming the head bartender at Casino San Pablo. He finished his career as bar manager for the new Elks Club Lodge in downtown Pittsburg.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Albie S. Lewis. He is survived by his brothers, Bob Lewis and Tom Lewis (Patti), sons Robert Lewis (Terri), Rodney Lewis, and Zac Sechiatano-Lewis. He leaves behind grandchildren Joe Lewis, Nicolette Lewis and Trevor Lewis, and his nieces Rachel Motts-Brown (Laz), Bianca Lewis and nephews Dante Lewis and Kylan Brown. His faithful companion for 45 years, Lupe DeLuna, was at his side to the very end.

At his request, no services will be held and there will be a memorial for family members only at a later date.
