Obituary

On Thursday May 9, 2019 Dave was unexpectedly called home to be with his Lord and Savior. Born on Valentine's Day in 1951 he grew up in Southern CA and Concord, CA. Graduated from Mount Diablo High School in 1970. At the age of 18, Dave started working for the Del Monte Company for about 20 years. In 1989 he started working for Kaiser Permanente where he retired in 2014.

Dave met the love of his life Barbara in 1977 and they wed July 15, 1978. Dave and Barb welcomed their children Amy, Dustin and David into their lives and all the craziness began! Dave coached softball with Amy and was very involved in Boy Scouts with Dusty and David. One summer, the guys of Troop 89 rode their bikes from Antioch to Anaheim. Dave enjoyed spending many summer vacations camping with the entire Richardson Clan and friends at Pinecrest Lake for over 30 years. While enjoying his retirement, you could find him sitting sidelines at his granddaughter Alexis's softball games and grandson Dominic's baseball, football, volleyball or basketball games. Dave enjoyed when his granddaughter Avey was in California for a visit and loved any time he could spend with his youngest grandson Jacob. Dave also would be there for any of his kids and their friends whenever they needed him. When no one would volunteer to help out at Dominic's school events, he would be one of the first to show up and the last to leave. He even was Santa's helper at Dominic's school. Many of Alexis and Dominic's friends all loved having Grandpa Dave around. Dave and Barb have enjoyed many years of being Disneyland annual passport holders and enjoyed many trips with friends and family.

Dave is survived by his wife Barbara of Pittsburg, CA. Daughter Amy Ervin and her husband Leroy of Oakley, CA. Sons Dustin LaDieu of Pittsburg, CA and David LaDieu and his wife Betzy of Poway, CA. Dave has 3 grandchildren, Dominic Ervin, Avey & Jacob LaDieu. His 2 sisters Nancy LaDieu and Carol Clopton. Brothers in Law who were like brothers to him for many years, Ken Richardson and his wife Linda and Jeff Richardson and his wife Lisa. He has many nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Lew LaDieu, his in laws Rich and Betty Richardson and his eldest granddaughter Alexis Ervin.
