DeAne Swan, 87, passed away peacefully after a long illness at Angels Love RCFE (Residential Care For Elderly) in Pittsburg, Ca.

DeAne was born in Flagstaff, Arizona to Edward and Guadalupe Zamora. The family moved from Arizona to Martinez, Oakley and then Pittsburg. DeAne grew up in Oakley, attended Oakley Elementary School and Liberty High School in Brentwood and then moved to Pittsburg in 1949 and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1951. After graduation, she applied for a job at the telephone company, but they were unable to hire her because she was only 17 years old; however, she was hired by Western Union to type telegrams. DeAne became a relief operator and she had the opportunity to travel throughout California. She met her husband on one of her assignments. She married Dale Swan and moved to New York where he was stationed in the Army. While in New York, she worked at Western Union for many years. She moved back to Pittsburg in 1969 and went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad as an inspector and retired from there to care for her elderly parents. DeAne loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and attending parties, picnics, ballgames and all family gatherings, especially during the holidays. DeAne also enjoyed cooking, reading and traveling with her parents, siblings and friends. She belonged to the Church of the Good Shepherd and was a lector for many years.

She is the last of her generation and was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Guadalupe Zamora, brothers, Filomeno, Joseph, Edward, Manuel and Chuck Zamora. Sisters, Cruz Gilbreath, Lupe Fackrell, Mary Salazar and ex-husband Dale Swan. She is survived by Dolores Zamora (Edward) sister in-law and many nieces & nephews who loved her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 9:30am to 11:30am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy at Church of the Good Shepherd at 12:00pm. Committal  services following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
