On July 7th, 2016, our beloved Mother, Delfina Robles, age 87, passed away in the early morning, with her son Paul and daughter RoseMarie at her bedside. Born in Los Angeles, California on December 24, 1928, Delfina was the daughter of Jose and Lucy Hernandez of Zacatecas and Michoacán, Mexico.

Stricken by illness at a young age, Delfina was forced to spend most of her adolescence away from her family. She overcame her illness in her late teens and was reunited with her family in Oakley, California. As a young women Delfina made friends easily. She loved listening to music and attending dances. In 1952, Delfina Hernandez fell in love with Paul Robles and they married in 1953. They lived a short period in Pittsburg, California, before purchasing their first home in Oakley, California. Together they had six children, daughters: Lucille Robles, RoseMarie Robles, Inez (Sean) Dunn, a son Paul Joseph Robles and two sons who did not survive childbirth named Peter and Paul. In 1966 Paul and Delfina purchased a second home and moved to Brentwood, where Delfina worked for Gehringer Elementary School for many years before retiring. Delfina was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Oakley. She also was a participated in the Portuguese Festivals, where she was a volunteer. Delfina loved to travel, garden and was a great seamstress. In 2013, Delfina moved back to Pittsburg, California where she took residency at the Presidio Village Senior Apartments. Delfina loved her apartment and independence. She made friends easily. Delfina especially enjoyed the many parties and field trips offered by the Presidio Village. But most of all, Delfina loved the company of her children. She always put her children first. This joyful soul will be greatly missed by her family and to those who had an opportunity to meet her. Our hearts will forever mourn our dear Mother's passing.

Delfina was preceded in death by her former husband, Paul Robles, two infant sons Peter and Paul, her parents Jose and Lucy Hernandez, sister Frances (Mario) Juarez, brothers Louie, Johnny, David, Jess, Jimmy and great grandson Jacob Ramirez. Delfina is survived by her children, Lucille Robles, RoseMarie Robles, Inez (Sean) Dunn and son Paul Joseph Robles. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Michael Ramirez, Paul Justin Robles, great grandchild Bailey Ramirez, sisters Ruth Lewis, Ester Higuera, brothers Frank Hernandez, Larry (Lucy) Hernandez.

Funeral liturgy will be held Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11:00am at Church of Good Shepherd in Pittsburg, California.
