Born in Suva, Fiji in 1943, Deo Raj Singh made his peaceful transition and passed away on July 7, 2021, surrounded by his close family. Deo Raj, also known as Dev Raj and Dave, came to California from Fiji and eventually made his home in Concord, California. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sawarni, his two sons Vijay and Sanjeev, many cousins, (only known to him as brothers and sisters), nieces, nephews and grandchildren, all of which he loved dearly. Equal to his family, he held close in his heart all of his friends, neighbors and coworkers.

Once completing school in Fiji at Mahatma Ghandi's Memorial High School, he came to California and began work in the Orchard Fields in Yuba City. Then, he began to work at golf courses in Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Vacaville and Rossmoor.

He then was able to begin his 40-year career with the City of Walnut Creek starting with the Parks and Recreation Department. He was the first person in his family to earn a college degree with an Associates of Arts Degree in horticulture from Diablo Valley College and he obtained a contractor's license and started his landscape business, all while working with the City of Walnut Creek. Then he worked in the Parking Meter Department, retiring as a Parking Meter Technician. The day before he retired, Mayor Susan Rainey presented Deo with a proclamation and declared the day Dave Singh Day in the City of Walnut Creek.

He spent his retired years as a Licensed Realtor with Majestic Homes.

He enjoyed his time with family and friends, reminiscing about times, old and new. He also enjoyed movies and music ranging from Rock N' Roll to Hindi Film Songs, Ghazals, Punjabi Geet, Bhangra, Religious and Devotional songs. He had it in his heart to do gardening and be a part of the community temple, both loves handed down to him by his parents. Deo was also one of the founding members of the local temple, Shiri Guru Ravi Dass Gurudwara located in Pittsburg, California.
