With joyful memories and hearts full of love, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and Noni, Diane Perkins, who, surrounded by family, went to her eternal home on December 5, 2024, at the age of 82.

Diane was born on November 7, 1942, in Pittsburg, California to her parents, Paul Pietro and Elsie Marie (Lazzarini) DaValle.  She attended Pittsburg High School, and later married and had two children, Denise Cappucini Jones and Bruce Cappucini. When she divorced years later, she went back to work part time for Clark Chiropractic, and then full time for the City of Pittsburg, later spending the remainder of her career as a secretary for the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (CCCSD) in Martinez.

In 1981, she met the love of her life, Ivan Eugene Perkins, after being set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. They married in 1987, and Diane gained two stepdaughters, Glenda (Perkins) Cohn and Jamie (Perkins) Whitington.  Diane was later blessed with 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  She loved spending time with her grandkids camping, teaching them to speak Italian, cooking their favorite foods, and instilling in them her values and Italian traditions.

Known as "Noni" by her grandkids, Diane was the glue that held the family together.  She was kind, loving, and thoughtful. She loved to cook and entertain for her abundance of family and friends.  She was quick to connect with strangers and was always looking for ways to help those around her and within her community.  It wasn't possible to go anywhere with Diane without running into someone she knew.  Diane and Ivan lived life to its fullest, enjoying many years together traveling across the country on their Honda Goldwing, camping with friends and cousins all over California in their 30' motorhome, and twice traveling to Italy.  After beating breast cancer and retiring, Diane worked part time for the CCCSD Household Hazardous Waste Facility and was active for several years in the annual Pittsburg-Antioch Relay for Life cancer fundraising event.

She was extraordinarily resilient, raising two kids, living most of her life with only one kidney, and surviving breast cancer.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and her memory will live on in the many lives she touched. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and warmth she gave to us all.

Diane is survived by her husband Ivan E. Perkins, brother Fred DaValle (Linda), Daughter Denise Cappucini Jones (Mike), son, Bruce Cappucini, stepdaughters Glenda Cohn, and Jamie Whitington, her grandchildren, Nicholas Steiner (Sophia), Dylan Jones, Emma Perkins-Johnson, Jenna Dragonetti (Jaycob), Tommy Dragonetti (Bernice), Hannah, Zachary, and Madison Cohn, her great-grandchildren Aiden, Grace, Logan, Rowynn (and a her 5th great-grandchild on the way), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother Paul DaValle, Jr.

Memorial services will be held Monday, January 27, 2025, at 11:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Pittsburg Moose Lodge, 1475 Moose Way, Pittsburg, Ca 94565.
