Don
Spahn
Jan 4, 1954 — Mar 8, 2025
Don Salvatore Spahn, 71, passed away on March 8, 2025 surrounded by family. Born on January 4, 1954, in Pittsburg, California, Don grew up with a strong sense of family and community. He attended Pittsburg Senior High School before furthering his education at Laney College, where he studied masonry and worked as a cement mason for over 20 years. He retired from the Contra Costa Water District where he worked for 20 years as a maintenance mechanic. His dedication to his craft and hard work were evident throughout his life.
Don was a man of deep generosity and kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends, family, and neighbors. His love for the outdoors was reflected in his passion for fishing, hunting, and gardening—activities that brought him both peace and joy.
Above all else, Don cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to Gloria and a loving father to his son Steven Spahn (Vanessa) and daughter Keely Nava (Matthew). His greatest joy came from being "Nanu" to his five beloved grandchildren: Angela, Makenna, Elijah, Violet, and Alexander (Lex). He embraced every moment spent with them and took immense pride in their lives.
Don is also survived by his sisters Kim Hawthorne, Karen Martinez, Barbara Moffett, and Donna Graser; sister in laws Lorraine Raucci, Lee-Ann Orlando and Vicki Gonzales; brothers-in-law Butch Martinez, Rudy Gonzales and Jim Hawthorne; Stepfather JC Walls and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanette Walls, father Don Spahn and step father Bob (Ace) Freitas.
A man of faith, Don had deep faith as a Christian and lived by the values of love and generosity. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 12:00pm at the Pittsburg Elks Lodge 200 Marina Blvd., Pittsburg.
