Dorothy A.
Kent
Nov 20, 1934 — Sep 16, 2024
Dorothy Anne Kent, 90 of Walnut Creek, CA passed away peacefully at John Muir Medical Center on September 16, 2024, with her son David by her side. Dorothy was born in Antioch, Ca to the parents of Dorothy and Joe Keller. Dorothy had an incredible life, strong willed and a passion to never give up.
Dorothy graduated from Antioch High school and married her high school Sweetheart Ruben Gutierrez and had three children Dante, Debbie, David. Dorothy never stopped talking about her kids no matter the problems she faced. Even through all the hardships she endured her faith and God's promises kept her on the right path. Dorothy loved helping in her children's schools and often was called a room mother, teaching kids how to read and write. Volunteering in the lunch room and assisting out in the playground. Even to the day of her death she was known as Grandma Dorothy even if she wasn't your real grandma. Dorothy loved to help people and became a volunteer helper at The County Hospital in Martinez, helping patients prepare for surgery and other duties that took the load off of nurses. She was a good talker and loved to listen to people's life stories.
After many years of service Dorothy developed a special friendship with a man named Glen. At the age of 42, Dorothy finally learned how to drive and purchased her first car with the help of Glen. They were like two peas in a pod, inseparable participating in adventure after adventure until the passing of her friend. A wonderful love story fulfilled.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother Dorothy and father Joe, Ruben, Her friend Glen, sisters, Joyce and Barbara, daughter Debra, son Dante. She is survived by Her son David, Sister, Roberta, Brother Ed and Her three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
As we mourn the loss of a mother, sibling, Grandmother, Auntie and friend we celebrate the memories she left behind and the eternal life with her loving Savior. Rest in peace mom.
Forever grateful for you! Never giving up on us, your kids even when others gave up on you! Thank you for giving an inheritance of Love.
Love your son,
-Dave
