Obituary

Early Foster Sr., was born on March 26, 1937, to the proud parents Jacob and Arlena Foster in Lee County, Georgia. He was the youngest of five older siblings. Shortly after his birth, his parents relocated to Crescent City, Florida.

Earl accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age uniting with Macedonia Baptist Church. Earl received most of his education in Crescent City, Florida and secured his first job as a newspaper boy delivering newspapers around his neighborhood.

In 1951 Arlena Foster would later relocate in Richmond, California with Earl, and his siblings. He moved to Pittsburg, California in 1954 where he would join the Labor Union of Northern California Local 421 as an apprentice and would work his way up to becoming a journeyman.

He met and later married Ruth Foster on August 13, 1957. This union was blessed with six children: Cynthia, Shelia, Earl Jr., Eric, Markisha, and Jason.

In March 1987 at the age of 50, Earl retired from Labor Union Local 421 as a Foreman where he had worked for 33 years.

Earl met Deborah in June of 1987, they were blessed with a son, DeEarl and later married on July 25, 1992, moving to Sacramento in 2002.  Earl was a very dedicated and loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Grandfather always providing and taking care of his family.

Earl enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, traveling, and watching western movies. He watched CNN to stay on top of the world news and loved listening to music. His special hobby was collecting other people's odds and inns and sometimes making his own creations out of what he had collected. He also was a handyman, carpenter, plumber, craftsman just to name a few of his many talents and skills.

Early was preceded in death by his parents: Jacob and Arlena Foster; ex-wife Ruth Foster, three sons: Earl Foster Jr, Jason Foster, and Marcel White; one son in law: John Morgan; one daughter: Cynthia Redd; Four grandsons: DePree Haynes, Ralph Cones III, Marcus Westbrook, and Tyrone Foster; Three brothers: Jacob, Roosevelt, and Bill Foster; One Sister: Pearl Foster; Best Friend: Cleave Grisby.

After a short illness Early departed this Life on May 15, 2023, with his daughter Markisha and wife Deborah by his side. Earl leaves to cherish his precious memories, wife: Deborah Foster (Sacramento); daughters: Shelia Morgan (Dos Palos) and Markisha (Eric) Calloway (Antioch); sons: Eric Foster (Pittsburg), DeEarl Foster (Sacramento), Leonzo (Zarinea) Pruitt (Brentwood); sister: Christine McGill (Las Vegas); 33 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; 2 Sister-in-Laws: Marilyn Pruitt(Fresno), Esora Smith (Las Vegas); 6 Brother-in-Laws: Donald, Denise, David, Andrew, Timothy, and Ocie Pruitt (Benicia); a host of other relatives and many special friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 10:00am with a funeral service at 11:00am at the Greater McGlothen Memorial Temple 550 Black Diamond St, Pittsburg, CA 94565. Burial following at Oak View Memorial Park 2500 E. 18th Street, Antioch, Ca 94509.
