Edward Perry Schroth's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Edward P. Schroth, 65 of Pittsburg, CA. announces his passing on October 18th. Ed was born March 29, 1953 and was a 4th generation resident of Pittsburg. He was the son of Charles L. and June Schroth (both deceased), brother of Charles L. Schroth, Jr. (deceased) and Charlene (Schroth) Albertson (husband, Richard, deceased). Ed graduated from Pittsburg High in 1971 and joined the US Navy where he was assigned to the USS Kitty Hawk. He met the love of his life and soul mate in high school, Shirley (Lucido) Schroth. They were married 46 years. After the Navy, Ed began a career in the mortgage industry. Ed's love for fishing brought him employment with United Anglers and a new career in the non-profit sector began. Ed worked as the Field Service Director for the American Cancer Society, Director of Operations for the Boys and Girls Clubs and Executive Director of the Lions Center for the Visually Impaired. Ed was a visionary and created new programs for each place he worked. With the Lions Center for the Visually Impaired he was credited with initiating an Early Detection Program and Intervention Program for the seniors in the community. Ed was a director for the Shirley Williamson-Perry Foundation and served on the Area Agency on Aging. Ed loved fishing, his S.F Giants and playing his guitar but he was the happiest at home with his wife and pets. Ed has many nephews, nieces, godchildren, cousins, friends and adopted brothers. He could make each of them and any one laugh. He will be truly missed by all.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Ed on Saturday, December 8th at 2pm at the Lions Center for the Visually Impaired, 175 Alvarado Ave., Pittsburg. The Lions Clubs will host a luncheon following the services.
