Obituary

Eugenio Buan Espero, a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, and a loving father, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025.

He fought with his brothers during World War II, where he endured the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, sustained a disability that propelled him to seek greater things in life, and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Despite enduring hardships, his determination never wavered.

He earned a college degree in Law and Accounting. He dedicated 35 years of his life, from his early roles as a clerk to his tenure as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), to the betterment of the people who sought help from within and outside the Veterans Memorial Medical Hospital in Quezon City, Philippines. He championed the welfare and fair treatment of his fellow veterans.

He is survived by his wife Angelita Espero, children, and grandchildren. Eugenio took great pride in his work, family, and in helping others. He was a lifelong learner, an avid bowler, gardener, runner, and outdoors lover.
