Eva (Ciarmitaro) McDowell, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the age of 86. A lifelong resident of Pittsburg, Eva worked for the Pittsburg Post Dispatch and the Pittsburg Unified School District. She was an active member of the Young Womens Institute of Pittsburg serving as President, Grand President and Past-Grand President.
Survivors include her four children, Helenann Patience (Stephen) of Rhode Island, Annette Harrison (Dennis) of San Leandro, Thomas Carpenter (Gloria) of Pittsburg and Gregory Carpenter of Rocklin.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mercedes and Matthew Patience, Joseph and Jennifer Harrison, Gregory Jr., Craig and Nathan Carpenter and Antonette Espinosa.  She also has five great-granddaughters. She is survived by her brother, Carlo Ciaramitaro, sister, Antoinette Ferrante and several nieces and nephews. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene (Mac) McDowell, and parents, Neno and Antonia Ciaramitaro and brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 6:30pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
