She was everyone's go-to! Need an accompanist, seamstress, teacher, artist, volunteer? Need someone warm, receptive and caring with whom to chat?

Evelyn Arms was always at the top of the list. On Dec. 14, 2025, we lost that warm soul. At 94, Evelyn remained thoughtful and kind despite many health hurdles she had to clear over the past five years.

She was a proud and loyal member of the Good Shepherd Church in Pittsburg, the church choir, Pittsburg Community Theatre, and the Pittsburg Women's Community League. Her greatest gift may have been as an educator. She was a kindergarten teacher for 30 years at Los Medanos Elementary in Pittsburg. And, her talent at the piano and organ filled everyone's heart who was lucky enough to be within earshot.

And, despite her long list of community service, her greatest accomplishment was built within her home. She and husband Darrell raised four children, all of whom attended Pittsburg schools.

She believed in the power of helping others and was an inspiration to her family and to those who knew her.  She will be greatly missed but will continue to inspire family, friends and community to embrace the mantra – service above self.

She is survived by her brother Jon Larsen of Elk Point, South Dakota, 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Darrell Arms and parents, Inez and Charles Larsen.

A funeral liturgy for Evelyn will be on December 22, 2025, at 10:00 am at Church of the Good Shepherd.  It will be followed by the burial at Oak View Memorial Park in Antioch.
