Frances Ann (Fillmen) Osborne, resident of Pittsburg, CA for the last 42 years, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, secretary, dancer, seamstress and knitter extraordinaire, passed away on May 19, 2019 at the age of 87. Born in the District of Columbia (Washington D.C.) October 20, 1931, the sixth child of L. Alvin Fillmen and Elsie D. Fillmen, she is survived by her sister Mrs. Marjorie Moore of Woodbridge, Virginia, her daughter Sherrie Osborne (Jim and Cathy Dudgeon), grandson Bryce Dudgeon (Bettina), great grandchildren Naomi and Gavin Dudgeon, daughter Linda (Osborne) Cooper (Charlie), grand-daughter Melissa (Shook)Holtzmann (Allan), great-grandson Devon Petty, great-grand-daughters Katiya Hammond, Kyra Holtzmann, grand-daughter Sarah Cooper (Jedd Phillps) great-grand-daughter Makenzie Phillips, her son Glenn Osborne (Grace), grandsons Joshua and Daniel Osborne and grand-daughter Kaitlyn Osborne, son Brook Osborne (Elizabeth) and grand-daughter Laura Osborne and grandson Shane Osborne and many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her ex-husband Herman C. Osborne, Jr.

Born in Washington, D.C. with her father working at the Smithsonian Institute and mother working as a homemaker, life then was a magical time. Mom particularly enjoyed roller-skating and dancing. She attended Radford College and met her future husband at a dance. After pinning his wings on him in Pensacola, Florida they began 13 years of marriage and cross country travel including a trip to Japan while he served as a naval aviator for the Marines. Those trips became the subject of family lore and inspired some to travel and see this big wide world. Mom raised her four children after her divorce and enjoyed seeing them graduate from college and pursue advanced careers. She worked in a multitude of careers during her lifetime including: the Army Corps of Engineers in Alexandria, Virginia, McDonnell Aircraft in Long Beach, California, Stanford University, in Menlo Park, California, Stacy's Bookstore in Menlo Park, California, Yarn Country, Concord, California and the City of Brentwood, Engineering Department in California. She loved being surrounded by young and intelligent people. She loved crafts, knitting, sewing and sewed nearly all of her children's clothes as well as her own. She practiced needlepoint, cross-stich, beading and a myriad of other crafts and she dreamed of one day opening her own yarn shop. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her old high school friends from McKinley High School, in D.C., the "Golden Techites", over the years and read their newsletter cover to cover whenever it arrived. She loved dancing and took lessons from famous dancers such as Page Binkley and Nick Gonzalez and joined the Pittsburg Senior Center and Antioch Senior Centers for the "tea dances" regularly, making some wonderful friends in the process. She also loved seafood and enjoyed attending the Pittsburg Seafood Festival on an annual basis to taste their barbequed oysters. She was a kind hearted soul that shared her love of music and the performing arts with us but more than that she challenged us to be the best people we can be. She will be missed tremendously by her family and friends.

Funeral Services to be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 10am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel, 2295 Railroad Avenue, Pittsburg, CA 94565. Burial will be at 2pm: Davis Cemetery & Arboretum, 820 Pole Line Road, Davis, CA  95618.
