Fran loved life and fought hard to keep her last breath, but lost to a weakened heart. She just turned 80. She was a courageous woman who did much, a lot of times with very little. A stay at home mom and homemaker for a 20 year Navy husband. She made up for her inability to drive by pulling the little red wagon with four small children to the Pittsburg City Park. Never without her husband Lew, in their 30's they traveled to square dancing events. They enjoyed watching football and cooked at different functions as members of various organizations. Most recently a member of the Ladies Auxiliary she enjoyed the company of the VFW Post in Antioch. A real trooper, her idea of camping was a small trailer and a bag of romance novels. She had a tremendous sense of humor and was generous to those in need. She loved to bake and is famous for her "made from scratch" cakes and cookies. She even enlisted her sons to help with the Christmas fudge. Fran follows her husband Lew and her youngest son Keith to rest with Jesus. She is survived by her two sons Lloyd and Edward Wackerle, and her daughter/caregiver Katherine Redican. She was loved deeply and will be remembered by many friends. She leaves sadness and many memories in our hearts. She will be missed forever. Visitation will be held Thursday April 12, 2012 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Friday April 13, 2012 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
