Obituary

George passed away on Monday after a 16 year valiant battle with renal cancer. He touched many lives with his bold personality, courage, strength, integrity, generosity & determination to take a stance on his belief system; whether it was his strong Christian faith, politics or any other ethical values he was interested in.
George had a strong will to live & showed his strength even into his final days as he held onto life long enough to celebrate his 65th birthday on Sunday, where he was surrounded by his loving family & friends to celebrate his life. George lost his long battle with cancer on Monday, September 15, 2014.
George was born in Pittsburg, worked for USS POSCO for 31 years as a crane operator after proudly serving time in the Army stationed in Germany. George was a member of the United Veterans Council, Pittsburg, providing Military Honors for Bereaved Families.
George is survived by his daughter Shawn Hughes of Solana Beach, CA; son Victor Hughes of Brentwood, brother Harvey Hughes of Pittsburg, sister Anita Belum of Vallejo, grandchildren Victor Jr, Vanessa, Vicente and Valencio. Kathy Ward Hughes who he cherished to the end. He was preceded in death by his father Harvey Hughes, Sr., and his mother Connie T. Roberts. His generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
His family welcomes all who wish to celebrate his life to attend a visitation on Saturday, Sept 20, 2014 at 11am, followed by services at 1pm at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.
