George Rios, a World War II Navy Veteran, passed away at the age of 89, on November 24, 2016, in Walnut Creek. Born and raised in Brentwood, California on March 4, 1927 to Paul and Rositia Rios, George attended Liberty High School and after WWII settled in Shore Acres, West Pittsburg where he lived for 63 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 315. George was an avid photographer and wood carver who also enjoyed fishing and watching High School sports.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Bobbie, sons: George and Larry. His siblings Rosita, Paul, Joe, and Ruben. In his later years, George enjoyed traveling with his long-time companion Evelyn Lamport. He is survived by his sons: Nick and Ted, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and his sister Eleanor.
A celebration of George's life will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Legion Post 202, P.O. Box 575 Brentwood, Ca 94513.
