Obituary

Gerald Paul Carpenello Jr., born November 3, 1949, in Pittsburg, California, passed away unexpectedly on May 25, 2026. Gerald was born to Gerald Paul Carpenello Sr. and Rose J. Carpenello and grew up alongside his sister, Susan A. Campbell. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1969 and remained proud of his Pittsburg roots throughout his life.

Gerald proudly served in the United States Army from 1978 to 1992. His years of military service reflected his dedication, discipline, and commitment to serving his country.

Following his military service, Gerald worked as an automotive technician, a profession that reflected both his skill and passion for mechanics. Outside of work, he enjoyed racing his stock car at Altamont Speedway and Antioch Speedway, where he spent many memorable hours doing what he loved most. Gerald also had a special love for cats, whose companionship brought him comfort and happiness throughout his life.

Gerald's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His family takes comfort in the many memories shared with him and the lasting impact he made on those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Paul Carpenello Sr. and Rose J. Carpenello. He is survived by his sister, Susan A. Campbell, and his nephew, Christian Campbell.

Gerald will be buried at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with the honor and gratitude owed for his years of military service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA in support of animals, honoring Gerald's lifelong love of cats.
