Gilbert Ray Conklin III, 47, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. A third-generation Pittsburg native, he graduated from Pittsburg High School and lived in Pittsburg most of his life. His mom's Pittsburgers were always one of his favorite meals.

He had a successful career in the automotive industry, working at various dealerships, as a district manager at O'Reilly for many years, and as a manager at Firestone before he had to medically retire. He loved to train and mentor others and dreamed of becoming an independent consultant.

Gil loved music and would sing anywhere he could. He enjoyed professional wrestling and was thrilled to attend a WrestleMania event with his daughters and his childhood friends, Joe and Garth. He loved muscle cars, especially his '73 Ford Gran Torino Sport, "Lucille." His favorite weekend activity was going to car shows and he even had his own car show-themed birthday party one year. He was an avid collector of comic books and this summer he got to attend Comic-Con in San Diego, where he met his comic-book hero, Todd McFarlane. He also loved watching professional sports on TV and would get dressed in his team's sports gear and yell, cheer, and clap as if he were in the stands. Most of all, he loved his wife, children, and family.

Gil is survived by wife Jen, daughters Haley and Kaitlin, parents Gil and Rose, four stepsons, R. J., Ryan, Aidan, and Joseph, a granddaughter, Nyelli, maternal grandmother Joyce Russo, brother Phillip, sister Amanda Conklin-Fuentes (Manuel), niece Giavanna, nephews Lorenzo and Domiano, and many other cherished family and friends. Gil was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Susan Conklin, maternal grandfather Leonard Russo, and stepdaughter Alexis Ervin.

He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at Pittsburg Funeral Chapel on Friday, Sept. 27 at 2:30 PM, followed by a reception at the Pittsburg Yacht Club.
