Gladys Margarita Trufero was born on

April 16, 1935 in Camagüey, Cuba. She was one of three children born to Julio Marquez Sanchez & Orfelina Olazabal Olivera.    Gladys grew up in Camagüey, Cuba & attended her schooling there.  She married her soulmate, Santiago Trufero , on December 10, 1963 & shared a loving & devoted marriage life with him for 28 years.  She & Santiago left Camagüey & moved to La Habana, Cuba in 1964.  In 1966, they welcomed their only child, a daughter,

Nivia Caridad Trufero .  Gladys & her family left Cuba in 1967 to avoid the communistic wrath of Fidel Castro & to give their precious daughter a better life.  They sacrificed all of their worldly possessions with the exception of the clothes that they could pack in to a single suitcase & fled to Miami, Florida, never looking back.  From there, they went to San Francisco, CA & living there for

5 years.  In 1972, Gladys & Santiago fulfilled the American dream & purchased their first home in San Leandro.  They resided there for 21 years & then purchased a second home in Antioch in 1993.  Gladys Trufero was a homemaker, a childcare provider, a loving wife & mother, a grandmother, godmother & friend.  She peacefully passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at

1:47 A.M., surrounded in love with her daughter (Nivia), her grandsons (Francisco & Alberto) & godson (Brandon), at her bedside.  She was ready to go home to Jesus as well as ready to reunite with her beloved husband, Santiago.  She is survived by her  daughter, Nivia Diaz, her grandsons, Francisco and Alberto Ramirez, her great grandchildren, Davenay Hill & Jamar Villalobos, her godchildren,

Diana Cruz, Daniella Cruz, Phillip Fuentes, Brandon Perez and Jackie Broussard; along with a host of other family members and close friends.

Gladys Margarita Trufero nació el

16 de abril de 1935 en Camagüey, Cuba.  Fue una de los tres hijos de Julio Márquez Sánchez y Orfelina Olazabal Olivera.  Gladys creció en Camagüey, Cuba y asistió a sus estudios allí.  Se casó con su alma gemela, Santiago Trufero, el 10 de diciembre de 1963 y compartió una amorosa y devota vida matrimonial con él durante 28 años.  Ella y Santiago dejaron Camagüey y se mudaron a La Habana, Cuba en 1964. En 1966, dieron la bienvenida a su única hija, una hija,

Nivia Caridad Trufero.  Gladys y su familia salieron de Cuba en 1967 para evitar la ira comunista de Fidel Castro y darle a su preciosa hija una vida mejor.  Sacrificaron todas sus posesiones mundanas con la excepción de la ropa que podían empacar en una sola maleta y huyeron a Miami, Florida, sin mirar atrás.  Desde allí, fueron a San Francisco, CA y vivieron allí por 5 años.  En 1972, Gladys & Santiago cumplieron el sueño americano y compraron su primera casa en San Leandro.  Vivieron allí durante 21 años y luego compraron una segunda casa en Antioquía en 1993. Gladys Trufero era ama de casa, proveedora de cuidado de niños, esposa y madre amorosa, abuela, madrina y amiga.  Ella falleció pacíficamente el lunes 18 de enero de 2021 a las 1:47 A.M., rodeada de amor por su hija (Nivia), sus nietos (Francisco & Alberto) y ahijado (Brandon), junto a su cama.  Estaba lista para volver a casa con Jesús y también para reunirse con su amado esposo, Santiago.  Le sobreviven su hija, Nivia Diaz, sus nietos, Francisco y Alberto Ramirez, sus bisnietos,
