Hardev Singh Sidhu passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by close family on the morning of Wednesday, February 12th, 2020. Born in Punjab, India, Hardev and his family migrated to Suva, Fiji Islands when he was five years old. Being the second oldest out of six children, he was no stranger to responsibility and hard work. At the age of 19, he married his beautiful wife Vidya in Suva, and from there they migrated to Northern California in 1963.
Hardev's first job was on a peach farm in Yuba City, CA, picking peaches for just $1 an hour, until he applied for a position maintaining a golf course in Woodland, CA. From there, his career in golf course management began, working at golf courses all over Northern California. Through hard work and determination his career led him to owning his own restaurant and golf course by the age of 30 in 1973; Diablo Hills Golf Course & The Greenery Restaurant in Walnut Creek, CA.
Always the life of the party, Hardev loved good music and never passed up an opportunity to have a good time with friends and family.
Hardev will be remembered not only as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, friend and boss, but also as a successful businessman who has made a monumental impact in his community. Everyone who has crossed paths with "Singh" has witnessed firsthand his love and devotion to his family and his business. He considered his employees and customers as family, which is why his legacy will live on through the many people he positively influenced throughout his lifetime.
Hardev is preceded in death by the love of his life, his beautiful wife Vidya Singh Sidhu of Walnut Creek, CA. He is survived by his devoted children, Debbie Singh of Walnut Creek (CA), Tony Singh (Yvonne) of Round Rock (TX), Steven Singh of Walnut Creek (CA), Angela Haag (Jed) of Waianae (HI), his grandchildren Devi, Nicholas, Anthony, Spencer, Brendan, Jaxson, his brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, his employees and patrons of Diablo Hills Golf Course & The Greenery Restaurant.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services Friday, February 21, 2020 at 9:30am both days at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Cremation services following at Oak View Memorial Park 2500 E. 18th St., Antioch, Ca 94509.
