4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Henry "Hank" Solis, 49, a long time resident of Pittsburg, California, entered into everlasting life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 2, 2016. Henry is survived by his loving father, Estanislao Solis, sister Lettie Solis, and nephews whom he loved dearly, Eddie and Michael Carrillo, originally from Pittsburg and now residing in West Sacramento. Henry was preceded in death by his mother Margarita C. Solis whom he loved with all his heart and devotion only two weeks ago and his dearly beloved sister Margarita Solis, ten months earlier in February of 2015 and by his very dear aunt Abigail Carbajal. His family will always remember him as a kindhearted, gentle, sincere, good-natured and loving son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend with a big smile and great sense of humor. He was relaxed and easygoing in nature and was a fun loving, even-tempered, happy-go-lucky and carefree person.


Henry lived his life by faith and by the great example set by his parents and by the Golden Rule of "do unto others as you would have them to unto you." He was truly one of the nicest men you could ever meet. He loved his family, honored and respected his parents and cherished them dearly, and was a wonderful and supportive brother. Henry was also a father figure and role model to his nephews Eddie and Michael. He supported and encouraged his nephews in the pursuit of their goals in life, and education, and never failed to show up at any of their birthdays, holidays, and school/sports events to show them his support and love. Every year, Henry would sacrifice his vacation time to ensure his nephews had an opportunity to visit Disneyland every summer, just as his father did for him. He took his nephews on vacation so that they too could experience the fun and joy in spending time together as a family that his father taught him.

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.13 Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Romans 12: 9-12


Henry was a member, along with his family, of the Church of the Good Shepherd, where he received the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Henry, above all else, lived by faith and demonstrated his incredible faith and belief in God and in the salvation of Jesus Christ by attending mass on a regular basis and through his love for others. He was humble in spirit. He took incredible care of his parents, took his mother to mass every Sunday, and through her sickness, took care for her as though she were a delicate flower--always with loving kindness and utmost respect. Henry also valued and loved his friends, and the friendships and bonds he had with them date to his elementary school years. He was truly a lifelong friend that one could surely count always. He lived life with great joy, love and passion regardless of whatever obstacles or challenges life placed before him.

Henry attended Pittsburg High School and graduated in 1984. He attended Heald Electronics Technology College and earned a degree in Electronic Technology. He was employed by R&S Automation as a supervisor where he worked for over 25 years. He loved fishing and was an avid sports fans of all the bay area teams--San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, and Golden State Warriors. He enjoyed watching the Warriors game with his mother who was also a big fan. As a child and well into adulthood, Henry enjoyed baseball and was known as a slugger/home run hitter during his Pittsburg Peanut League years (1973 - 1978). In the 1980s he was a team member of the Subway Rats, a local baseball team, and was nicknamed King of the Triples. Henry also enjoyed cooking and loved to barbeque. He was well known for his barbeques and a master cook known for cooking the best tri-tips and ribs.

You loved him greatly in this life; and now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace for ever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.


Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 6:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services at Holy Cross Cemetery.
