Obituary

Hiram Orlando G. Dolojan, at the age 90 years, passed away on August 29, 2020. Born in the Philippines on August 04, 1930, the second son to Vice Governor Gregorio Dolojan and Pampela Garcia Dolojan. His older brother, Gregorio Dolojan Jr. is retired in the Philippines. Amor Dolojan and his younger brother Jorge Dolojan preceded him in their passing.  He graduated with a degree in law in the Philippines in 1956. He and his family moved to the US and has lived in Pittsburg since 1967. He is survived by his wife Flora, Orlando Jr., wife Sonia (Gearhart), grandson Hiram III, youngest son D'Leon (King) and wife Sonia (Becerra), grandchildren Micaela, Keiana and Dailon. Donovan, the eldest son passed away in 2016 and is survived by his wife Anna and granddaughter Maya.

He started his US career in with Harper Robinson and eventually to NOVO International. He became a founding member of Seamodal Transport Corporation in 1977 and remained as a Director of Foreign Military Sales Operations until his retirement. He created deep and lasting friendship in his over 30 years of travel to Japan and other US facilities. His colleagues and friends in Japan still refer to him fondly as "OD-San".

Orlando was an advocate of Social Change through representation and participation. He and his contemporaries and colleagues were an agent of change that help the Filipino communities' growth and acceptance. Thenumerous organizations he and Flora joined, focused on community service and promoting the Filipino culture for societal acceptance.

Orlando's long list of community service includes being elected to the Los Medanos Hospital Board of Directors and was a longtime working member of the Pittsburg Planning Commission

The Dolojan family became an active member of the Fil-American of Pittsburg in 1967. His ever-increasing position of leadership culminated in the purchase of a permanent home for the Fil-American Association of Pittsburg on his tenure as President.

Sir Knight Hiram Orlando Dolojan, was a member of the Masons Pittsburg Lodge No. 429. In 2016, Orlando was bestowed the Mason's highest honor, The Hiram Award. Sir Knight Hiram Orlando Dolojan was initiated in the Order of the Amaranth at Black Diamond Court No. 165, Pittsburg in 2004. An active member who served and helped promote Membership and also supported several fund-raising events for the benefit of Diabetes Research and the Scholarship Program as the main Philanthropic Projects of the Order.

A celebration of Orlando's life will be held on Friday Sept. 11, 2020. We request that you please arrive early. C-19 protocols are in place requiring that you sign in (for contact tracing record), wear a face mask and social distancing when practicable.

Viewing will be @ 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel (2295 Railroad Avenue, Pittsburg).

  • Holy Mass: @ 12:00 p.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd in the Spiritual Garden (3200 Harbor Street, Pittsburg).
  • Burial: @ 1:30 p.m. at Oak View Memorial Park  (2500 E. 18 th St. Antioch).
