Iluminada Mendoza
Aquino
d. Sep 3, 2025
Iluminada Mendoza Aquino, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the night of September 3, 2025, at the age of 98. Born in the Philippines, Iluminada was the daughter of Macario Mendoza, a hardworking laborer, and Mercedes San Agustin, a devoted mother. On December 31, 2004, she immigrated to the United States and spent the past 20 years living in Contra Costa County, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Iluminada dedicated her life to her family. She raised twelve children: Carmelita, Flordalisa, Lilia, Marilyn, Ernesto, Domingo, Mercedes, Leonardo Jr., Lucila, Romeo, Evelyn, and Maryjane, who, along with her many grandchildren, carry forward her love, strength, and spirit.
Iluminada will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and a smile that could light up any room. A gentle and soft-spoken woman, she nurtured her family with unwavering devotion. She found joy in cooking, attending church, and caring for her grandchildren. Known for her wit and playful sense of humor, she loved sharing laughter with her family and especially enjoyed playing mahjong during family gatherings.
Iluminada's life was one of sacrifice and strength. Through nearly a century of living, she gave selflessly to her family, filling their lives with warmth, faith, and laughter. Her legacy of love endures in every life she touched. She now reunites with her husband, Leonardo Aquino Sr., who passed away on October 24, 2000.
Words cannot measure how deeply she will be missed. To her family, she was unforgettable—an endless source of love, joy, and inspiration. She will remain forever in their hearts.
Family and friends are invited to a rosary on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 3:00 pm, a Christian Service at 4:30 pm, and a chapel blessing beginning at 5:30 pm. Visitation will continue until 7:00 pm, all at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Philippines.
