Jack Garcia was born on July 24, 1928, in Johnstown, PA to Pedro and Placida Garcia (Espigares), Spanish immigrants, and he left this world on Feb 24, 2023, at the age of 94.

At the age of 5, Pittsburg became his beloved hometown. A proud PHS graduate (1947) and Pirate football player, he was active in many civic and political organizations including 25 years as a City of Pittsburg Planning Commissioner.

From childhood through adolescence, Jack helped support his family through various jobs: he hated picking prunes and loved hustling at the dry-cleaning job in Camp Stoneman with his compadre, Hena Narez. While still in high school, he began his 40-year career at the "Steel Mill", where he advanced from laborer to electrician, and proudly retiring as a General Foreman.

Jack was a lifelong Catholic, inspired by his friends, Dominican Fathers, Francisco and Isidoro Vicente and John V. Kane. He lived to travel possessing an insatiable wanderlust that he happily willed to his daughter. He loved sharing his tales of Spain, other European countries, El Salvador, and countless ocean cruises with anyone who would listen!

Jack was preceded in death by his much-loved wife, Delores, parents, sister, Carmen Lorentson (Gary) and son-in-law, Fred Hare. He leaves behind his brother, John Garcia (Vicky), daughter, Cedra (the favorite), son, Peter (Gloria), and grandchildren, Brendinn, Nathan, Justin (Antonia), Noel and Joaquin (Elyssa), and great grandchildren, Morgan, Mari, Joaquin, Hudson, Freddi, and Bina. He also leaves behind many beautiful cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren and a coffee group of Pittsburg's best.

Funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 12:00pm at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
