Jack passed away peacefully at age 101 on March 7, 2022 at Brookdale Senior Living in Brentwood, Ca. Jack, b etter known as "Cactus Jack," by his friends was born in Oakland, Ca. in 1921 to Anton and Mary Metez. Jack, a Building Contractor with Local 152 Carpenters Union was the oldest member of 81 years. He worked for the United States Navy from 1941-1944 as a civilian carpenter. He was preceded in death by wife Edith of 52 years and son Robert "Bob" Metez. Jack is survived by daughters Jan Perlichek (Gary) and Sharon Dyer (Dave), five grandchildren and  8 great grandchildren. Jack, wife and son moved from San Lorenzo to Danville, Ca in 1948 with a population of 248. He always said building highway 680 would bring new families and businesses. And did it ever. He built custom homes in Danville and the surrounding area. He retired in 1989 and moved to Brentwood in 1992 to be near his daughters. He served the  Contra Costa County Posse for numerous years and volunteered with the Brentwood Police Department. The family would like to thank nurse Karen with Suncrest Hospice.
