James Allen Becker passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, April 7, in Antioch, California.  He suffered from dementia and cancer in his last years. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 5, 1934, the only child of Victor Hugo Becker, III, and Jessie Adeline Paine.  He spent much of his childhood in York, Pennsylvania.  He attended Ohio Wesleyan University but transferred and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BA in Business Administration.  He swam competitively for both universities, and he was enrolled in the ROTC program at the University of Tennessee.  When he graduated from college, he joined the US Air Force and achieved the rank of Captain.  After the Air Force, he worked for IBM, working in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East for many years.  After IBM, he worked for a brief time for DHL and then joined the US State Department as the Commercial Consul in Mumbai, India.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his former wife, Judith Teresia Sedor Becker, his 3 sons, James Allen Becker, Jr., Jeffrey Todd Becker, and John Peter Becker, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was an active and engaged father. His sons remember fondly that he attended their sporting events and other school and life events and was always present in their lives.  He was also a Rotarian and spent time serving the community as a volunteer.

In his later years, he moved to Antioch, CA, to be closer to family and served as an Ambassador at Quail Lodge Senior Living, welcoming new residents to the community before finally moving to Trevista in Antioch.

The family will hold a private service and he will be buried at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Richmond Community Foundation, www.rcfconnects.org .
