The Watkins' family announces the peaceful passing of James (Jim) Ernest Watkins on April 27, 2026. Jim was born to Ralph Leon Watkins and Mae Ernestine Watkins on June 14, 1950. Growing up, Jim was involved in the Pittsburg Boys Club, Pittsburg High School sports, band, the DeMolay, and the Pittsburg Baptist Church. After graduating in 1968, Jim attended  Diablo Valley College and San Jose State, pursuing an art degree. Jim worked for John Mansville, Viacom and later for the Pittsburg Unified School District filling various roles.

Jim loved sports. He volunteered with the Pittsburg youth as coach, statistician, and biggest fan. He also loved music, drawing, community events, and time with family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Maria, sons Chris and Michael, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother Tom, and sister Susie Watkins-Allen. Jim is preceded in death by son Jeremy, parents Ralph and Enerestine, and brothers Leon, Bill, and Terry Watkins.

Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Pittsburg Yacht Club.  In lieu of flowers please donate to: Pittsburg Historical Society PO Box 1816 Pittsburg, CA 94565
